(Funded by BBC Children In Need) Status: Full time Closing date: 21st September 2018 Ref: Project Worker Location: Dundee Role BeFriends are seeking a suitably experienced applicant to join our team and run our high quality and busy befriending service as a Project Worker. The post holder will be expected to work directly with young people, aged between 5 – 25, on an individual basis and in groups, as well with families and befriending volunteers, on behalf of BeFriends throughout Dundee. The post holder will also contribute to improving quality and further development of befriending support for young people. Educated to degree level, or equivalent, the successful candidate will also have significant experience of working with children and young people, volunteers, and have comprehensive knowledge of current issues faced by young people and of the voluntary sector and the challenges voluntary sector organisations face. The organisation has a strong commitment to supporting young people to; increase their confidence and self-esteem, build confidence in themselves and reduce social isolation by developing social skills to empower young people to build and maintain positive friendships and relationships. BeFriends formerly known as Youth-Link (Dundee) is a Dundee based charity. Established in 1981 we have provided help and support to thousands of vulnerable and disadvantaged children in the Dundee area.
BeFriends acts as a resource for vulnerable/disadvantaged children aged 5-18 providing them with a One-to-One Befriending Service.
Through support from befrienders and by participating in fun activities/experiences we:
Make a positive change in the lives of the children and young people
Raise the children and young people’s aspirations and help them realise their full potential
Build upon the children's key skills and abilities helping them develop into confident and capable individuals
Enhance the children and young people’s personal, social and communication skills
Encourage the children and young people to take responsibility for their behaviour and actions and support them to make positive choices that can reshape their future
Increase the children and young people’s participation in city wide and local activities
